39 Days and Counting...

Time has definitely been flying by here at the Eyre residence! Our lives have been so jam packed with friends, family, holidays, baby preparations, etc. that our little guy's arrival seems to be sneaking up on us. Here's a little peek at what's been keeping us occupied....

At the very beginning of November we had the chance to go to Idaho and be at the blessing of Porter Friend Eyre (the son of Matt and Dannielle...Blair's brother). It was awesome to be there to witness that and also have the chance to see nearly ALL (minus one brother) of Blair's Family! It was a quick trip, but we loved the chance to meet precious Porter and catch up with all of Blair's family.

About a week later, my wonderful mom, sisters, and sister's-in-law threw me a baby shower! It was so fun to get together with some family and friends and have them all spoil little baby Eyre! There was great food, great company, great games, and awesome gifts. Everyone's generosity has definitely helped us get more prepared for baby Eyre's arrival! Big thanks to all who attended and especially those who planned this fun time.

P.S. One of the games we played ended with me demonstrating ceremonial eating of the cake at baby Eyre's first birthday...! Probably had to be there.... :)

For thanksgiving, we then got to be with EVERYONE in the Gilbert clan! My parents rented a cabin up in the mountains of Cle Elum and ALL of my siblings and their families were there. It was so much fun! The cabin was awesome and comfortably accomodated us all. We ate way too much, watched movies, karaokeed (wow...spell check?), hiked, and just had lots of fun. Thanks to mom and dad for planning and gathering us all....wonderful memories were made!

Now....we are headed straight into Christmas! I love this time of year and it's definitely helping to pass the time until January 17th!!!

I have found myself thinking about Mary a lot this Christmas season. As I feel the aches and pains of pregnancy and consider any fears I may have about bringing our little guy into this world....I think of her. The circumstances in which she gave birth to The Son of God were definitely less than ideal. She and Joseph were the most pure and humble people, and thinking of them and the miracle of the birth of Christ sheds a little different light on my thoughts about Christmas this year.

And finally, an update on the pregnancy...we just had a check-up and ultrasound today. Because of the history of large babies on both sides for Blair and I (to give you an idea...we were both over 10 lbs), our doctor just wanted to check in on the relative size of the baby. We were so glad to see that everything seemed to be growing well and in it's proper place and that he seems to be healthy....very healthy! Our doctor said he's estimating his weight to currently be in the 84th percentile (about 6 and a half pounds right now) and is gauging that he will end up in the 9's when he's born. That's kind of what I was expecting, so we'll just hope he keeps progressing and staying healthy. Here's a token belly picture...most likely the last you'll see :) Camera's and I don't seem to get along these days!

Blair's staying busy with his substituting!! He's enjoying it as much as he can, and making good contacts along the way. We just hope it's getting us to where we want to be....teaching full time! I am really enjoying the fact that he gets home around 3 or 4 every day and we get to see quite a bit of each other.

I just got a new job doing graphic design from home part time for a local fitness club chain. So far it seems like it's going to be a great job that will be flexible and allow me to be mom FIRST and have a little work on the side!

Life's great here, and we're just counting down the days......
