Sunriver

My family's reunion was in Sunriver Oregon (about three days after we got home from Wyoming). Sunriver is a resort about ten miles from Bend, and my family has been having about every other summer vacation there since I was really little. I have a lot of fond memories there and have loved having Blair and Briggs be a part of it now. We all stayed in a big lodge there that fit us perfectly.

Here's Briggs testing out the place. This saddle was right outside of our room, and he seems to be a natural. Hopefully we can have some horses someday and he can experience the real deal!

Each room had a name, and ours was the "Hitching Post". In the lodge, we spent time eating, eating, watching movies, eating, and (my personal favorite) just sitting around and reminiscing.

Briggs had a lot of firsts this weekend....one of which was swimming! I was really anxious to see how he would like the water (since he LOVES bathtime). I must say his reaction was not quite as exciting as I might have hoped (I was picturing constant smiles and giggles....probably high expectations) but he did seem to like it.

First family swim.

Another first for Briggs was a bike ride. Brandon and Heather were kind enough to let us put Briggs in the bike trailer with Mylie. Don't be fooled by this picture, however. Mylie was kind of not sure about Briggs being in there right at first and Briggs seemed to be enjoying himself. However, it wasn't long before the tables turned. Mylie adapted quickly and Briggs slowly became less and less sure about the whole experience (in other words... he ended up screaming). So...the following pictures show how this experience ended up for us!

I'd like to mention that Brandon and Heather didn't kick him out, I just couldn't take listening to him so upset. So...we opted to foot it back to the park (a distance which seemed much shorter on bike) and then Blair rode on to the house while Briggs and I waited for him to come back and pick us up in the car.
I can remember all of the years where I was the carefree little girl riding along on my bike watching my older siblings turning around with their crying babies....and now that's ME! That's okay though...I actually really enjoy having him along for all of our adventures...even if they turn out a little differently than they use to!

We also enjoyed our traditional river float! Another adventure that goes quite differently with a little baby. We all started out with our life jackets on (which worked okay while Briggs was asleep) but once he woke up, he wasn't havin' it. I don't blame him....those little things look about as comfortable as wearing a cardboard box! So...his and my jackets both came off, and the rest of the float was much more comfortable. Don't worry, the float was so slow and we were wedged down in that raft so deep...there was no way Briggs was in any danger :)

We really enjoyed our time with the fam, and are grateful to my parents for all of their efforts in getting us all together. They have always made that a priority, and we have so many cherished memories because of it!!!!
