I was headed to Walmart to pick up a few things. Since the car was SOO dirty and Briggs seemed to be happy in his car seat (and we don't have a yard where we can wash it ourselves...otherwise I would have) I decided to swing by the car wash.
I pulled up to the little electronic paying machine thingy (I'm pretty sure that's the technical term) and try and decide which wash to choose. I decide I'll do the $5 wash and that I'll use a $20 bill to pay for it (thinking a 5 and a 10 would be nice even change). I slide in my bill waiting for the machine to spit a couple bills back out....& much to my dismay, I watch as quarters start clinking down instead. Seriously....are they really going to give me $15 in quarters. So I watched for what seemed like forever as my quarters piled up one by one. Rather annoyed, I picked up all my quarters and put them in the little compartment under the e-brake.
It was then that Briggs started to cry.....oh well, he'll be alright for a few more minutes.
With all my quarters put away, I push the button to roll my window up and IT WONT WORK!!! That's right! I'm due to pull into a car wash I just paid for and my window is stuck down. I keep trying in hopes that it'll magically start working again, but it doesn't. Defeated and embarassed...I back out and pull up to gas station.
So there I was...sitting in my dirty car with $15 in quarters and a crying baby! Hooray!
Rather than crying (which I wanted to) I decided to call Blair and tell him all about it. I'm really glad I did because we ended up laughing pretty hard together (me with a few tears in my eyes). After a good laugh, I went in to the gas station and got my money back.
Then, I went to Walmart and when I got back to the car and unloaded my groceries...my window rolled up! So....I decided I should go back and get the car washed once and for all.
However, this time I pulled up only part way and got out of the car (in order to keep my window up). I then proceeded to pay for the wash with 24 quarters, inserting them one at a time!
After it was all said and done, I ended up with a clean car, $9 in quarters, a 5 dollar bill, and a memory.

what a story, and so glad that you got a laugh out of it, because I'm pretty sure I would have taken the crying route! You're a brilliant story teller by the way!
I need to have a better attitude about things and do what you did- just laugh. Because I can see myself getting so mad in a situation like that! :)
